What makes a question publishable

Every question must have one clear best answer, enough context to understand what is being asked, and a difficulty level suitable for an everyday general-knowledge game. We avoid trick wording, specialist scientific names, disputed superlatives, and facts that can change without warning. Answers are normally one or two words so players are not penalised for phrasing a long response differently.

A daily set is balanced across the site's 13 categories. It should include accessible questions as well as a genuine challenge, without relying on one country, age group, or entertainment genre for the whole round.

Creation and fact-checking

Daily questions are created with AI assistance and stored as that day's fixed set before play begins. The generation rules reject previously published questions and require a concise answer plus accepted spelling variants. AI is a drafting tool, not evidence: factual claims should be verifiable against dependable reference material such as official organisations, museums, encyclopaedias, established news archives, or primary records appropriate to the topic.

We check for ambiguity by asking whether another reasonable answer could satisfy the exact wording. If it could, the wording is narrowed or the question is not used. We also avoid false premises and questions whose answer depends on a contested definition.

Answer matching

Players type answers rather than selecting from a list. Matching ignores capitalisation, accents, harmless articles such as “the”, and small spelling mistakes when the intended answer remains unmistakable. It does not accept a different person, place, object, or concept simply because the spelling is similar. Common short forms and surnames can be added as explicit alternatives when they identify the answer unambiguously.

Freshness and repetition

The playable quiz uses a newly generated set each day rather than recycling the public practice bank. Previously used question text is supplied to the generator as an exclusion list, and published daily questions are retained so future rounds can avoid them. The public trivia library is separate: it exists for practice and quiz hosting, so reading it does not reveal the live daily round.

Corrections and player reports

Trivia can still be wrong. If you spot an inaccurate fact, ambiguous question, or an answer variant that should have counted, send the date, category, question wording, and a reliable supporting source through the contact page. Reports are reviewed against the wording and source evidence. Confirmed issues are corrected in the stored question data and used to improve future generation rules.

Independence and advertising

Advertising does not decide which topics, answers, or articles appear. Ads are kept outside the question-and-answer interaction so they do not cover controls or interrupt a round. Editorial content is written to help players learn or play; it is not created to imitate an advertisement.
